Hauraki Horsemanship

Unlike many of his clients, Gary's fascination with horses and horsemanship didn't ignite during his youth; it sparked when he was approaching the age of 40. Guided by friends who proclaimed, "Dealing with horses is simple—just kick to go, pull to halt, and bend them to your will," Gary soon realized that this approach was far from ideal. These methods failed to align with his values and left him searching for a superior path—a method that was both equitable and effective, one that resonated with true horse communication, understanding, and respect.

Gary's quest for this better way led him to the realization that there existed knowledgeable horsemanship clinicians in New Zealand who could illuminate the path. Thus began his personal odyssey towards refining his horsemanship skills.

As Gary puts it, "I've been fortunate in recent years to receive guidance from two of New Zealand's premier horsemanship clinicians. This journey involved traversing our magnificent country alongside them, sharing the wisdom of tried-and-true techniques with their clients. This experience unearthed a passion within me—not solely for instructing equines but for teaching people as well. It kindled the desire within me to become a clinician myself."

Over the past few years, myself and my partner Sue have taken immense joy in imparting these methods and my insights to individuals attending our Hauraki Horsemanship clinics. As we're all perpetual learners in the realms of self-discovery and equine companionship, I eagerly anticipate many more enriching experiences to come.
